AVIS is a United States-based car rental company and is headquartered in the Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ, U.S. It was established in the year 1946 in the Ypsilanti, Michigan, U.S. and serves the customers in all over the world. Reserve an Avis car

Here, in the middle left of the page, type,

  • Date and Time

  • Location

  • Renter’s Age

  • Optional

  • Last Name

  • Confirmation Number

  • First, check rates and availability before you redeem your membership rewards.

  • You just have to enter dates, times and rental location and click “continue” to see eligible vehicles and rates.

  • Next, complete the Membership Rewards redemption process to obtain your Avis certificate(s).

  • Upon receipt of your certificate number(s) from American Express Membership Rewards, re-enter dates, times and rental location and continue through the reservation process. You may apply up to 3 certificates (maximum value of $400). A confirmation email will be sent upon completion of the reservation

  • As of October 1, 2009, all vehicles in the compny’s U.S. fleet are designated as non-smoking cars. A Cleaning Fee of up to $250 may be applied to the cost of a rental, should this policy be violated.

  • Similar to how Avis assess cleaning fees for excess dirt and soilage in vehicles, when a vehicle is returned the Return Agent will inspect the vehicle for physical evidence that the car was smoked in and photos will be taken to substantiate the assessment of the cleaning fee.

  • Our focus is not on being able to prove whether or not someone did or did not smoke in our vehicle. We are committed to providing our customers with vehicles that are 100 percent smoke-free, which means that we are inspecting the vehicles for smoke odor in addition to ash, butts, etc. Even if there is no visible evidence of smoking activity, if a vehicle that was smoke-free when provided is returned with tobacco odor, it will undergo special cleaning and the fee will be assessed.

  • In most cases, the inspection and customer notification will occur at the time of vehicle return by our Return Agent in the vehicle return area. If the Return Agent finds evidence that the car has been smoked in or it smells of smoke, the customer will be informed of this finding, and that they may be assessed a cleaning fee of up to $250. The customer will then be given their receipt as per standard procedure.

  • After that, a location manager will inspect the vehicle to validate the findings of the Return Agent to determine if a cleaning fee is to be assessed. If so, the customer is notified in writing that the fee has been charged to the credit card we have on file.

  • Under certain circumstances, the Return Agent may be unable to notify the customer of the possible assessment of the fee at the time of vehicle return. Examples include:

  • The customer leaves the return area before a Return Agent is able to inspect their vehicle.

  • A Return Agent is unable or unavailable to inspect the car thoroughly at time of vehicle return; the inspection is then conducted by trained staff at our service island at a later point in time.

  • The vehicle is returned after hours when no Return Agent is available to inspect the vehicle.

  • When the vehicle can only be inspected after the customer has left our facility, and is found to require smoke-related cleaning, the customer is notified via mail that the fee has been charged to their credit card.

  • Avis does not have a strict pet policy, but please be sure to return your rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair, etc. to avoid cleaning fees.

  • Avis offers convenient one-way rentals at attractive rates. Pick up a car at one location and return it to another. Car type and availability vary by participating locations, and a drop-off charge may apply on certain rates.

  • Taking a car across a state border is generally not a problem. However, it’s always best to inquire about any restrictions or fees that may apply if dropping the car at a different location. Inquire either at the location or simply contact us.

  • Avis requires that each customer and additional driver meet the Avis minimum age requirement, present a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, and present an Avis-honored charge card or cash rental qualification at the time of rental.

  • The driver’s license must be valid at the time of rental and remain valid throughout the rental period. All drivers must meet Avis’ requirements. Driver’s licenses accepted in the U.S. are:

  • Any license issued by any U.S. state, territory or possession.

  • A license issued by a Canadian province.

  • A license issued by a country that participated in the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic or the 1943 Convention on the Regulation of Inter-American Automobile Traffic.

Split Billing Option:

Avis also offers a split billing payment option which provides billing flexibility. Customers may split their rental charges into two separate credit/debit cards. In addition, corporate customers have the ability to charge counter products, optional services that are not covered as a company expense to a personal credit card. Customers who wish to split their rental charges into two separate credit/debit cards can choose to split the rental charges by one of the following ways:

  • Dollar Amount

  • Rental Days

  • Services

  • Rental Days & Services.

  • Avis rents to customers between the ages of 21-24 with an Avis-honored credit card and valid driver’s license. At the time of reservation, we will automatically apply an additional $27-per-day underage surcharge in the U.S. and $35 per day in Canada for drivers 21-24. If you have any questions about underage driving restrictions, please contact Avis prior to your arrival at the rental counter.

  • Additional driver fees will not be reflected in your estimated total when you book your reservation in advance. They will be calculated at the rental counter when the vehicle is picked up.

The individuals, if 25 years of age or older and in possession of a valid driver’s license, may drive the car with the renter’s prior permission and are exempt from Additional Driver fees:

  • Renter’s employer (while on company business);

  • Renter’s fellow employee (while on company business

Shuttle and Delivery Services:

  • At many airports, Avis offers complimentary courtesy bus transportation to and from the airline terminal and the Avis rental facility. For bus and shuttle information for a specific location, visit that location’s detail page.

  • Certain Avis neighborhood locations may provide free local pickup and delivery if you are within five miles of the rental facility. These locations require 24 hours notice in order to facilitate this service. You have to contact the location itself to confirm that transportation is offered.

  • You need to be aware that Avis is unable to provide parking for personal vehicles while the owners of those vehicles are renting a car.
